Sweaty Betty Rant

So I got a few questions about me going to the gym so I thought I would just blog about it... plus Abby made me :)
My local gym has a great deal on where students can get 30 days of full access to the gym, pool and classes for £25 which is great deal and I jumped at the chance... sort of :) Anyone who has a Parkwood Leisure Centre near them can also get this deal until the end of August.

The main problem I have with gyms is the contracts which they force upon people... £30 a month for 12 months!!! What If I go on holiday? What if I have a month of exams at college? What if I run out of money? I cannot stand the idea of being contracted to pay when I may not be able to make it enough times that month to get my moneys worth! Also its a well known fact that most people who sign up for the gym, get bored and stop going after a few months. Not sticking to new ideas screams Onna!

Anyway that mini-gym-rants out the way...Is anyone else really embarrassed about sweating in public, especially with very buff, good looking men around and tiny little women? I still do sometimes... and I thought all the buff and minuscule people at gym was a bit of a myth, apparently not! But honestly once you get there and get on with it its not that bad. If you're thinking of joining the gym, dont let that stop you! My one tip to you would be find a friend to go with: someone at roughly the same level of fitness as you, and someone who is motivated and reliable! (My friend turned up an hour and a half late today Grrr)

OK to the point of this post: at the end of this 30 day trial I was thinking of 'reviewing' my gym experience. Let you know my thoughts, my weight loss, and fat percentage loss... and if I would carry on?

Let me know if your interested or if you thinking of joining the gym? Do you already go?

I love the gym! back in south africa myself and my sister went to virgin active almost everyday for about 2 hours a day. i was super fit and it was so much fun meeting so many cool people and having a laugh.

Its different now that i have to gym at a small hotel gym with no one to keep me company. I dont mind the sweating in public as i dont get very red in my face so its just like water :P hehe

Good luck :)

I use to go to the gym but not very often i paid £25 a month for a 12 month contract and hardy ever went. I made the mistake of joining with a friend who was less motivated than me lol.

I know what you mean, it's horrible that you have to have a contract for the gym! I guess you could use that to encourage you to go more though, because if you don't then you'll be paying for something your not using.

I hate sweating full stop. It makes me feel so body concious wherever I am :(

I dont go to the gym anymore but only because i dont have anyone to babysit really. I have been to a lot of different gyms including ladies only which i do enjoy more. I dont like the way men sound when they start lifting weights that are too heavy for them huffing and puffing, going bright red and making all kinds of noise lol.
It puts me off. I sometimes think the little gyms without fancy equipment are just as good because i tend to work out harder when i have less distractions and less people as i feel less self consious.
Good for you hun keep it up xx
