FOTD Inspired by Kenza Zouiten

I haven't done a 'FOTD' in such a long time, so I thought why not? Sure taking lots of pictures of my face is vain, but its all in good fun right? This is a makeup look inspired by the beautiful Swedish blogger Kenza who I'm sure you all know. I love the way she can just casually pull off a red lip in the middle of the day without looking 'try-hard' or messy. So this was my attempt... I might possibly make a youtube video on the look but it is so simple.

Just an extremely light fresh base (Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation, Collection 2000 Concealer, and my Natural Collection blush in Peach Melba) touch up on the brows but nothing too heavy, lots of mascara or natural false lashes and the red lip! I used my trusty Mac lip liner in Cherry and my MUA lipstick in shade 13. Ordinarily I'd used Mac's Russian Red but I lost it... sad times!

I was a little worried about whether I could pull this off but I think I could try and rock this in the day. I think it would look amazing with messy beachy waves, skinny jeans and a baggy tee.

I filmed the video a little differently, so I hope you like it. I'm still getting to grips with my camera and am by no means a videographer but I'd love to learn more about how to make good videos.

Happy Easter!

Bring Back 2008: Lauren Conrad Hair Tutorial

For those of you that have read my blog for a very long time may remember I used to make videos when I was about 16, back in the good old days when everyone filmed on their webcam and uploading only took and hour. I enjoyed it for a little while, but I stopped because I needed to concentrate of other aspects of my life. Now I'm a little older, and hopefully wiser I enjoy making videos a lot more. However, I thought I'd re-create one of my old hair tutorials. The hills was all the rage when I was 16, and Lauren Conrad hair tutorials were the 'it' thing on youtube. This little bad boy isn't anything revolutionary but it's a little more unique than a 'How to curl your hair' tutorial *rolls eyes*. Anyway, it's really simple to do. I used the Enrapture Totem Styler, which I initially struggled to find a use for since I love my BaByliss conical curling wand (apparently the renamed it) so much but its actually great for creating updo's. The ringlet style curl creates beautiful texture in the hair so I think I'll be using this bad boy more often!

Hope you like the video!

Blogging Changed My Life

So this is more of a personal post but one I've been meaning to write for a while. I was going to make it into a video, but If I'm completely honest, I get really emotional thinking about that time in my life and I'm not ready to talk about it in a video. As many of you know my new years resolution was to blog and vlog on a much more regular basis. So far so good, and I've really been enjoying creating videos. There can however, be a lot of negativity in the blogosphere. I'm not talking about 'hate' or 'trolling' because, quick frankly I couldn't give two f***s about that. I'm referring to the bitchiness, jealously and arguments over how and if bloggers should earn money.

This post is a focus on the great side of blogging, the side that will always have a special place in my heart. Now I don't want to get too touchy feely on you, I hate talking about my emotions and there's nothing worse than a cheesy blog post but I felt what I have to say is important. I've met so many amazing people blogging and honestly I dont know what I were I would be in life if I didn't start a blog. I've been on and off blogging for years, I actually made youtube videos on an old channel when I was 16. I was going through a really rough time, but I managed to get back on my feet.

When I was 19, I relapsed with a bout of depression after the loss of a family member and a few other things. I ended up being kicked out of the access course which I was doing in order to get into university and I was devastated. I wrote a blog post called 'I need your advice...' in which I ranted about my life, and asked for help. I got some lovely comments and tweets after that blog post and I wanted to thank you all for being there for me. In particular I wanted to thank Laura and Gemma who suggested I look into The Open University. I'm sure they don't even remember posting the comments they did but I honestly can't thank you enough, it completely turned my life around. I'm now halfway through my degree in English Literature and Language and if it wasn't for you two this would never have happened. My family and I knew nothing about OU so no one suggested it to me until I blogged asking for advice. I may not be a successful career woman just yet, but onwards and upwards :) I can honestly say you changed my life!

This is just one of the many ways in which blogging has helped me and it has nothing to do with popularity, free stuff or showing off. I've made some great friends like Abby, Steph, and Carly! I've met some amazing people who I look up to like Gemma and Anna!

This community is great, you just have to ignore the bullshit. Thank you again to all the amazing bloggers, tweeters, and youtubers who I've met, or talked to; who've offered me advice or comfort in times of need and just a bit of a giggle when I'm bored. When I say I love you guys, I mean it! It would mean the world if you could go check out all the amazing people I've mentioned as my small way of thanking them for being amazing! No more soppy blog posts I promise ;)

Happy Sunday!
